CLIENT: N/A | DATE: June, 2018 A derivative of our initial creation Constellation, Chaotic // Order is a rearrangement of the mirrored pyramids to create new structures. Here eight pyramids circle one central pyramid that are mapped all together and individually to create a playable structure. You can see bits of this sculpture in action from our Interactive Salon performance. Music by sleepdealer. BELOW: Testing harmonies of opposite sides of the color wheel through a prism.

CLIENT: Trent Kim | DATE: June, 2018 Following a successful 2017 presentation, I was primed and ready to come back with even more groundbreaking lumia projects. This presentation picked up from where I left off and was titled "Technologically Mediated Lumia Continued." Using many of the same techniques and equipment, I focused even further on interactive qualities that bring light art techniques into the modern age. CLIENT: Art Works Eagan | DATE: May, 2018 In a follow up event to Lighting the Way, Ben Hunder, one of the Infinite Strangers, and Second Sight Visuals put on an entirely interactive showcase at Art Works Eagan. On the visual side we had a hand held lumia station and a kinect "light shadow" for people to play with. There was also a light painting booth with our Kinetic Colors App and I controlled a projection mapped lumia sculpture. For audio, guests were encouraged to manipulate sound through midi controllers, keyboards and other digital means. Overall it seemed like a huge success, everyone from the youngest of guests to the oldest got in on the action. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: May, 2018 Playing on the success of Chaotic // Order, we experimented with doing more hands-on techniques with lumia and light manipulation onto the sculpture. Metallic film, prisms, custom glass plates, and more. Music by Eyes For Ears. CLIENT: Elemento - P, Light City Baltimore | DATE: April, 2018 Taking another approach to liquids, we set up a macro system to capture intricate movements and interactions. This footage was then set to the song "HALT!" by ELEMENTO-P. This mix of spacey beats and alien-esque womb visuals was selected by Light City in Baltimore (the largest lighting festival in the United States) to run on their "On Demand" screen for the entire run of the event. Check the video below and some footage of it live in Baltimore. CLIENT: Art Works Eagan | Date: April, 2018 The first venture into phone app creation was this experiment known as Kinetic Colors. Using data from your cell phone's accelerometer and gyroscope, the app changes colors to reflect speed and position. As you move the phone around in space, you are able to draw with light and color with the help of long exposure photography. Check out a few of the cool results and download the app for Android below. Some photos taken with the help of Andrew Skalak and Matt McNeil.
CLIENT: ARTWORKS EAGAN | DATE: April, 2018 It was the feeling of Christmas morning all over again when I received a slender package in the mail marked "TO: Second Sight Visuals." I quickly and carefully opened the package. I pulled out the first of four paper-thin sheets as their colors danced in the light. It was my 3M dichroic film samples and they were gorgeous as they shimmered from pink to yellow and all of the colors in between. Below is the first set of photos that I took with it around Minneapolis. I played with the film to try and create new gradients of color. Grab a free sample of your own over at 3M's website, you won't be disappointed! These have been printed on a range of canvas sizes. Reach out if you'd like to purchase. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: March, 2018 In a continual exploration of light and its properties, I've built out these lightscapes (also available as metal prints). Standing around 15'x10' these static, projected forms look at color and shape to create an immersive experience. CLIENT: FOCI | DATE: March, 2018 Utilizing video feedback, Strange Attractor explores the bizarre world with colors and shapes not normally known to mankind. With a specially curated audio soundscape from Ryan Bouchie, you'll soon see why this video gets so strange. This piece was created to be an audio/visual installation of many forms, single screen, projection, or multi-screen installation as seen at BEATS NIGHT - PSYCHEDELIA. It also has an interactive component where you can view the piece as spherical video and further explore the space to create a unique visual experience each and every time. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: March, 2017 Two layers of projection merge and blend playing host to positive and negative spaces. The first is a front projected sphere whose contents shift through a feedback-styled dance. The second is a reflected lumia projection harnessing colors that push through the white noise. This style was harnessed live during the Art-Tech Experience. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: February, 2018 These snake-like forms feel as though they are almost moving right out of the image. The prism/spectrum coloration along with the scaly moire pattern helps the illusion as well. CLIENT: Spectrohm Movement | DATE: February, 2017 The second in a series of shows at Honey in Minneapolis, I used this platform to break out my latest show, EMERGENCE. EMERGENCE is a generative fractal performance that uses VDMX and video feedback to produce fractal forms that grow and change color. Plus, I did it all by hand (in a sense). Check out the definition of emergence here. Enjoy the Facebook live feed below and a few other shots from that night as well. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: February, 2018 Five dichroic prisms lineup to shine bright. The first round of experiments involving light and shadow along with different angles to increase saturation and change the color output. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: February, 2018 A new series that explores bending light in new and unexpected ways. Colorful compositions were created and then projected out into the darkness. These fragments of light were then reassembled in camera. Little to no post was done on these even though they look like a sci-fi space scene. CLIENT: Can Can Wonderland | DATE: December, 2017 After a chance meeting with "Stan the 3D man" over a year ago, I reached back out to utilize his 3D shadow technology for an NYE party at Can Can Wonderland. My contact there had 200+ pairs of red/cyan anaglyph 3D glasses but no way to use them. We procured and facilitated the installation near the back stage so guests could both view and interact with the fun and cool effect of the 3D shadows. Great for all ages. Get in touch if you'd like to have this on stage or at your event. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: December, 2017 PBS Digital Studio has had a few viral hits with their own audio focused remixes of cult classics like "The Joy of Painting" with Bob Ross and Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. We here at Second Sight Visuals really dug the songs but thought the visuals could be pushed a bit more. So what do we do? We glitch the hell out of them. Enjoy. CLIENT: Joey Pecoraro | DATE: December, 2017 Taking some video footage from our Fusilis series, we edited and transformed it into a dancing lumia interpretation for the killer track, "Sour Sweets" by Joey Pecoraro. Dive into the feels. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: December, 2017 Welcome, you are now entering a bizarre place between dimensions. Here, geographic planes both exist and don't exist simultaneously. Topographical renders have appeared to us but only in abstract photography. Dive into the ooze. CLIENT: Max Altmark / The L.O.V.E. Band | DATE: December, 2017 We've experimented with Chromadepth in the past but this video is the culmination of those findings. Four layers of color (red, yellow, green and blue) stacked on top of each other through special Chromadepth glasses produce an incredible illusion of depth with blues sticking into the screen and reds floating out towards you. The main video, Max's face, was manipulated in VDMX and isolated against black to appear as an ominous, floating head. We then created green and blue mixes to place behind and better assist in the illusion. Buy Chromadepth glasses here Check out the rest of the EP here CLIENT: N/A | DATE: December, 2017 All of humanity's great discoveries seem to happen around 2 AM. These bizarre face transformations are right up there. Messing around with VDMX is where we find some of the best combinations of glitch and just plain bizarre outcomes. Given that my desk has some good LED lighting we played around with glitching our own face, below are the results. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: December, 2017 In further attempts to find ways in which light acts like a liquid, we find ourselves discovering new ways to see. Fusilis, from the Latin "molten, soften, liquid", was the best word to describe this new series. Multiple lights of changing color come into and out of focus as they dance across the lens. We've created a photo series and also explored this phenomenon in video form as well. Slowing it down to analyze the behavior at a higher frame rate. Here we get 60s light show vibes and unique lumia patterns. See them in motion here. CLIENT: ATR | DATE: December, 2017 Basically this is the anti-liquid visual from our work with L'Orange. With an aggressive new beat titled "Eze" from ATR, we chopped up the liquid footage and spit it back out in order to send the viewer into a deep, dark place. Hold on to your butts. CLIENT: L'Orange | DATE: November, 2017 An experimental venture into the world of macroscopic liquid interactions. With a track from L'Orange's latest album, he gave me the go ahead to match it seamlessly to the movement and colors of the liquids on hand. We had a really fun time putting this one together and the results speak to that. Enjoy. CLIENT: N/A | DATE: November, 2017 Which TV show do you think of with a classic title sequence? For us, these shows also happen to be our favorites. We re-imagined these intros as a kinetic lumia piece. With good negative space, memorable colors and audio, these intros see new light (literally). CLIENT: Nutmeg Brewhouse | DATE: November, 2017 Have you ever FELT a video? Well, now you can at the Second Sight Visuals Feedback Petting Zoo! Simply place your hand into this dark box... it won't bite, we promise... and watch as your touch controls and creates a colorful video. By showing the hand, you get a phantom limb-type sensation where you start to feel that you are actually petting the video. |
