MADE HERE INSTALLATIONS
CLIENT: Hennepin Theatre Trust  |  DATE: Oct 2015-Feb 2016, Nov 2016-Feb 2017, June-Sept, 2017

Our first big artistic opportunity was to create a window installation in Downtown Minneapolis. Luckily, this happened two other times as well. Working with interactive possibilities and unique aesthetics we're proud of our history with this event. Check it out.

"EMERGENCE"
Made Here: FUTURE

For my third installation with Made Here, I wanted to showcase some work that I have been digging into recently - creating self similar, fractal worlds through video feedback loops. The theme was "FUTURE" so I felt that creating a generative art robot of sorts was perfectly fitting.

EMERGENCE looks at many concepts including the rise of AI and machine learning, the role of the artist in the age of technology, and the fractal properties of the Universe itself.

To make the installation appear sentient, I have created social profiles for which it will publish screenshots of its ongoing video work. These are all unique, and never to appear again. Follow along on Instagram and Twitter.

In addition, here is the core footage video that was played and where the fractal posts were derived from.

"A U R A Borealis"
Made Here: SPIRIT

With the theme of SPIRIT, I looked to the mythology and belief systems of ancient and indigenous people who saw the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) as the spirits of their loved ones who had passed on to the afterlife.

A U R A Borealis utilized a live feed of the sidewalk and street to translate movement into light. As people and objects pass in front of the camera, the output reflects that allowing them to both become part of the piece and manipulate it as they see fit. Each interaction will create a completely unique and ever changing array of light and color like the Northern Lights themselves.

In a collaboration video, I teamed up with Jack Link's Sasquatch as he messed with my installation.

"What Do You See MN?"
Made Here: REFLECTIONS

What do YOU See MN? Was an installation for Made Here's "Reflection" showcase. Made Here, a project of Hennepin Theatre Trust, is a walkable urban art experience that connects people to local art and artists in the downtown Minneapolis Cultural District.

For my installation I looked at how ink blots can be combined with lighting to create a new way of looking at them. In the literal sense, a Rorschach image is made up of ink blots (or in this case, outlined with lights or lit from within) reflected across the y axis to form a subjective image.

In a more figurative sense, this project allows the viewer to interpret the image as they see fit and what they decide will ultimately be a reflection of their inner self.
