FOCI Immersive Parties
CLIENT: FOCI - Minnesota Center for Glass Arts | DATE: December 2017 - March 2018
The FOCI space in Minneapolis is a large industrial space that has been converted into a glass blowing community and artist space. We were brought on board to add immersive elements to the space through lighting and interaction. So far we have built out three unique experiences:
Beats Night - Psychedelia, The Grand Uffda and Hot Beats as you'll see below. |
Beats Night - PsychedeliaFor our third event with FOCI, the theme was Psychedelia. Open enough to get weird, but specific enough that you can play to your audience. Since the last two events had gone so well, we decided to act as both a curator and installer for the event.
We invited fellow visual artists Chris LeBlanc, Shawna Lee and Jason Hollis to join in the fun through live projection projects. Our installations included "The Cloud," a fluffy, colorful Instagram opportunity, 'Light Creatures," four DMX lights with a mind of their own, and "Strange Attractor," an audio/visual installation with the help of soundscape expert Ryan Bouchie. |

The Grand Uffda! With our second FOCI event, we wanted to go even bigger, so we did. Forty vertical feet of interactive lumia projection, a cylindrical mirror lighting installation and a glass/light hybrid creation in collaboration with one of the glass blowers.
|
Hot BeatsThe first event in a series of partnerships with the Minnesota Center for Glass Arts, Hot beats mixed live glass blowing with groovy music to compliment our light installations.
The first installation was a new version of our projection mapped sculptures, "Constellation". Here we invoked the Scorpio constellation over 40 feet up the side of an elevator shaft. This was a prime piece of real estate and grabbed the attention of attendees right away. Secondly, in keeping with a lumia theme, we created a spinning icosohedron and used 4 DMX lights to accent it throughout the night. This piece was right above the live music and really set the tone. |
